Terms & Definitions


Fertilisers (also known as U.S. spelling: Fertlizers):

Good pasture production requires good soil fertility. Farmers use fertilisers as a way of supplementing the nutrients already present in their soils.

Base Fertiliser:

Coasted Fertiliser:

Plant Tissue testing:

Tissue testing is a technique for identifying and monitoring the levels of trace elements in most crops.

SAP Nitrate testing:

Using SAP Nitrate meters, the tests will predict the amounts of nitrogen topdressing that may be needed and the results can be used to assist decision-making at critical stages of the season.

Soil testing:

Soil tests are used for analysing organic carbon, available phosphorus and potassium, pH levels, electrical conductivity (a measure of salinity) and field texture.
